Research

i am currently working on Numerical Applications to Linear Algebra. My main focus for the moment is on optimization. For statistics and machine learning there has been a sudden increase in data set sizes and complexity. As a result, storage of this data and finding solutions at high speed is desired.

Interests/Hobbies

I like to play the guitar and the cuatro(a traditional string instrument from Ouerti Rico). I also like to go running, I just completed my first half marathon recently. I enjoy drawing too and I've been doing it for a few years. I like dancing salsa, reading and playing video games. I'm also interested in chemistry, physics and computer science.

Biography

I am originally from Puerto Rico where I went to a small high school. Only 16 other students graduated from high school with me. I received my Bachelor's degree from Univeristy of Puerto Rico, Rio Piedras Campus in Mathemtics and Chemistry on June 2010. I started my PhD in August 2010 and I was an LSAMP-BD(Louis Stokes Alliance for Minority Participation -Bridge to Doctorate) Fellow for my first two years as a graduate student before being accepted at GK-12.
