"Nonstandard Finite Difference Methods for Partial Differential Equations"

Abstract: A new class of finite difference methods for advection-diffusion equations with nonlinear reactions will be formulated and analyzed. The proposed numerical techniques are based on a nonlocal modeling of the reaction terms and a nonstandard discretization of the time derivative. This approach leads to significant qualitative improvements in the behavior of the numerical solutions.
