"Primary decomposition of ideals in commutative rings"Abstract: Methods of computing a primary decomposition of ideals in commutative rings will be discussed. A simple method will be shown for ideals in a principal ideal domain. More complex algorithms will be discussed for polynomial rings over fields. Also, we will discover a nice family of rings in which primary decompositions of ideals always exist.
