Sports in America: Is it Still Only a Game?

POSTPONED UNTIL SPRING

The scheduled Maverick Speakers Series appearance of NBC sportcaster Bob Costas has been postponed.

Costas notified the University that his network has assigned him to call legendary shortstop Derek Jeter’s final home game in Yankee Stadium. His UT Arlington appearance will be rescheduled and announced at a later date.

All ticket holders will be contacted by email. Preferred package holders will be given a full, automated refund. Once a new date is set for the event, current general admission ticket and preferred package holders will be contacted by email.

The Maverick Speakers Series will open Oct. 20 with husband-and-wife-political-commentators James Carville and Mary Matalin.

Bob Costas is a sportscaster who is also known for hosting, play-by-play, writing, journalism, news, and entertainment. He currently hosts NBC’s Football Night in America and prime-time Olympic coverage, contributes regularly to Nightly News and The Today Show, and is a contributing reporter at MLBN. Named National Sportscaster of the Year a record eight times, Costas also has won 26 Emmy awards, more than any other sports broadcaster.
