- Preliminary discussion with an academic advisor
This initial step is to determine if students have completed the required coursework to enter a particular UTA degree program. The advisor may complete an unofficial evaluation of college credits (optional-not required).
- Apply for admission to UTA through the UTA Office of Admissions
If submitting a hard copy of the application, use an application specifically marked "MCC - Site." If applying on-line, send an email message at the time of application (including name and Social Security number) to Sandra Donaldson, sandrad@uta.edu, at UTA indicating the intention to take UTA classes taught at MCC. Questions should be directed to Sandra Donaldson at the sandrad@uta.edu or 817.272.6287 or admissions@uta.edu.
Priority application deadlines:
| Semester | Date |
| Fall admission | June 1 |
| Spring admission | December 1 |
| Summer admission | April 1 |
- Obtain information about financial aid and scholarships
Financial aid may be available for full or part-time students. In addition, scholarships may be available for students with a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 or better and an Associates degree. For both financial aid and scholarships, it is important to apply to UTA early (Step 2 above). Financial aid and scholarship deadlines may not be the same as admission deadlines so students should check the UTA website. Questions should be directed to Ray Boldreghini at 817.272.3561 or fao@uta.edu.
- Request registration release
If a student is admitted to the university and once a letter is received from UTA stating so, the student must contact the UTA advisor for registration release. Advisors for the UTA programs are listed in Step 1 above.
- Register for classes
Students must register themselves and can do so at www.uta.edu or by calling 817.272.2726. The schedule of classes taught by UTA at MCC is available at www.uta.edu/schedule/mcc/. Room and building assignments are available at www.mclennan.edu/students/ucmcc/schedules.php.
- Obtain textbooks from the MCC Bookstore
- Obtain an ID Card
The card identifies students as part of the University Center and is available from the MAC Card Office in the Learning Technology Center at MCC.
- Library Card
Students are encouraged to apply for a free TexShare Card through UTA by using the online application at library.uta.edu/Main/privOtherLibs.uta. This card allows students to check out materials through the MCC Library plus many other Texas school and city libraries.
- Questions
Contact the advisor listed above for the particular program of interest.
The University of Texas at Arlington is an equal opportunity/affirmative action employer.
