Overview and Program Requirements | Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) | Schedule of Classes
The University of Texas at Arlington requires that each department have an admissions procedure; this stands outside of admission to the University itself. The undergraduate admissions procedure for the School of Social Work is relatively simple. Students are eligible to apply after fulfilling several requirements:
A number of courses can be taken before or after a student has been accepted into the program: SOCW 2361, DAAC Practice I, SOCW 3301 (Human Behavior), 3302 (Human Behavior II), 3303 (Social Welfare Policy), and 3305 (Social Research). Students will have to be accepted into the program, however, before they are eligible for 3304 and 3306 (Practice II and III), and 4251 and 4252 (Field Practicum I and II). Following acceptance into the program, students will need to maintain an overall 2.25 grade point average to remain in the program and be eligible for Field. They will also need to maintain a 3.0 grade point average in all social work courses, with no grade for an individual course lower than a C. Before graduating, students must be able to qualify for state licensure in the state of Texas upon completion of the academic program (i.e., no disqualifying factors) under the Texas Professional Social Worker Act.
