Genomics and Bioinformatics:
Genomics and bioinformatics are widely regarded as the key areas of scientific discovery for the 21st century. The sequencing of the entire human genome and of a rapidly growing number of organisms from throughout the tree of life marks the beginning of a revolution in biosciences and medicine. The associated development of computational tools and functional genomics techniques are changing the way we approach fundamental questions in biomedical sciences and understand the complexity of living organisms, including our own species. The Symposium on Genomics and Bioinformatics will highlight some of the recent progress and innovative research undertaken in these areas within the three UT institutions of the DFW metroplex.
