Optical Imaging:
The application of light to visualize and interrogate biological tissue has created a highly promising imaging modality for diagnosis and prognosis of disease. Optical medical imaging is non-invasive and imparts no adverse effects onto tissues. Compared to other imaging modalities such computed X-ray tomography (CT), optical imaging has low cost and, in many instances, the optical imaging systems are compact, portable and easy to use. The Symposium on Optical Imaging introduces the research initiatives and the available imaging facilities at the three participating UT institutions.
