Chinese at UT Arlington
The Chinese Program at The University of Texas at Arlington is dedicated to the study of the language, business, literature, and culture of Chinese-speaking countries. Students have the opportunity to progress toward oral and written linguistic competence in Mandarin Chinese and to study Chinese communication within its cultural contexts. Courses are designed to increase students' abilities of self-expression, enhance their cross-cultural understanding, help them see their own culture from a fresh perspective, and develop the technical skills necessary to function in an internationalized economic, political, and web-based world.
UT Arlington offers a Bachelor of Arts in Critical Languages and International Studies in Chinese, a Certificate in Localization and Translation in Chinese, and a minor in Chinese.
Course offerings reflect a conscious effort to accommodate the needs of both majors and non-majors, non-native and heritage speakers, and to provide a comprehensive study of the language within its cultural traditions for greater international understanding.
Students interested in international relations and diplomacy, business, the Chinese culture, language, and literature, and web localization and translation will find relevant courses within the offerings.
