Certificate of Proficiency in German
Any student who completes German 2314 and who obtains a score of "8" or above on a comprehensive oral proficiency exam and a comprehensive written proficiency language and culture exam will obtain an official Certificate of Proficiency in German. The Certificate states that the student has functional proficiency in the language. Students may then list the results of the exam and the receipt of the certificate on their résumés. The exam will be administered to all students as the final exam of the 2314 course.
Certificate of Achievement in German Courses
At the annual spring Department of Modern Languages awards ceremony, outstanding students in spring language courses will be honored. Certificates of Achievement will be awarded to the best German students in these courses.
Zertifikat Deutsch, B2, or C1 (Zentrale Mittelstufenprüfung) Certificates of Proficiency through the Goethe-Institut
UTA is a testing center for internationally recognized German language examinations sponsored by the German government under the auspices of the Goethe-Institut

- These certificates of proficiency are recognized in German companies and organizations across the globe. Some German universities also recognize the C1 in lieu of German university language entrance exams.
