Types of Admission


Unconditional
All paperwork has been received by the Graduate School (application, application fee, GRE scores, transcripts), by the Department of Modern Languages (letters of recommendation), and admission criteria have been met (acceptable GRE score and undergraduate GPA).
 
Provisional
Not all paperwork has been received (GRE scores, a transcript, a letter of recommendation, etc.), but the Graduate School allows admission for one semester, because student seems promising. Student must be accepted unconditionally in order to continue after one semester.
 
Degreed Undergraduate
Student with undergraduate degree wishes to take graduate courses for own reasons, but not for a Master's degree, or student wishes to take care of undergraduate course deficiencies. Such a student may apply for acceptance into the Graduate School at a future date, but only up to 12 hours of graduate credit may be applied towards a Master's degree.
 
Special Student
Student with undergraduate degree wishes to take graduate courses for own reasons, but not for a Master's degree. Such a student may apply for acceptance into the Graduate School at a future date, but only up to 9 hours of graduate credit may be applied towards a Master's degree.
