Dr. Tatiana Baeva Profile

Date: April 15 , 2015

Dr. Tatiana Baeva has a special place in her heart for Eastern European orphans. In 2011, she joined Allies in Youth Development (AiYD), a nonprofit helping orphans in Russia, as the Director of Russian Operations. Through Dr. Baeva’s work, the nonprofit expanded to Russia, Moldova and South Ossetia, which nearly tripled the number of orphans served. Consequently, she was promoted to Director of International Operations. Dr. Baeva also leads annual trips to Russia with American volunteer groups through AiYD and will be taking the first UTA Internship students, in partnership with AiYD, to Russia this summer.

Dr. Baeva also organized and ran a conference in Voronezh, Russia, entitled “Problems of the Youth in Russia” in 2014. She also implemented and organized the first trip of Russian volunteer helping AiYD to America to learn more about volunteerism. AiYD has been featured in Mansfield NOW, Arlington Today and UTArlington Magazine. Dr. Baeva has also started to regularly speak about her experiences growing up in communist Soviet Union and how the children are still being affected.

Dr. Baeva has also been a STARTALK participant since 2012. In 2014, she earned a certificate of professional development from the University of Iowa.
