Research Synopsis:

Dr. Liu’s primary research area is electrochemical energy conversion and storage, which includes:

   
  • Nanomaterial synthesis and component fabrication for electrochemical energy conversion and storage
  • Computational simulation of materials and components in fuel cells and lithium-ion batteries
  • High-performance hydrogen polymer electrolyte membrane (PEM) fuel cells and direct methanol fuel cells (DMFCs)
  • Fundamental study of material degradation in fuel cells
