Failure Analysis at Bell Helicopter

September 22, 2017 | 11:00 AM till 12:30 PM
Nedderman Hall 229 | Seminar Flyer

Seminar Speaker

Aaron Slager

Engineer, Bell Helicopter, Field Investigations Lab

Abstract:

Failure analysis at Bell Helicopter is used to determine the root cause/corrective action of failed parts to support accident investigators, design engineers, stress engineers and reliability/maintainability engineers to ensure the product is safe. Presented will be how different tools, techniques and methodologies are used to perform failure analysis on materials used in aerospace industry such as aluminum, steel, titanium and composite laminates. Several case studies will be discussed.

About the Speaker:

Aaron Slager received his B.S. in MSE from Iowa State University and his M.S. from UTA. He is an engineer with 14 years of failure analysis experience at Bell Helicopter. Aaron has completed over 1,700 projects that ranged from accident investigations, field returns, in-house fatigue testing and testifying as an expert witness.
