
William “Jay” Wilson retired as Executive Chairman of NOP World, a division of United Business Media Ltd. (UBM) on September l, 2003. As Executive Chairman, Mr. Wilson was responsible for helping senior management to grow the NOP World market research business globally, both through various organic initiatives like the establishment of a new marketing consulting division (Roper NOP Consulting) and through the identification and evaluation of potential acquisitions in the U.S. and abroad.
Previously, Mr. Wilson was Chairman and C.E.O. of Roper Starch Worldwide Inc., which was acquired by UBM in August, 2001. Since 1972, under Mr. Wilson’s direction, Roper Starch grew from a company that specialized in advertising and media research to a much more broadly-based organization involved in many different fields of market research and consulting activity. Mr. Wilson was responsible for the acquisitions of International Research Associates (INRA) in 1974, The Roper Organization in 1981, E. Friedman Marketing Services in 1988, Crossley Surveys in 1994, Response Analysis in 1998, Langer Associates and Parker Tanner Ltd. (England) in 2000.
Prior to being named President of Roper Starch Worldwide (formerly Daniel Starch & Staff, Inc. and Starch INRA Hooper, Inc.) in 1972, Mr. Wilson was Executive Vice President and a Director of INRA, a leading international research firm. He was previously employed by Reader’s Digest, both in the U.S. and abroad.
He is currently a member of the Board of Directors of Intersections, Inc., a direct marketing company that creates and offers unique credit and privacy protection services to consumers in the U.S. and abroad. Mr. Wilson is also currently the Chairman of the Board of Opinion One, a software development company focusing on the market research and retail industries.

Past Chair and current Co-Chair of CMOR (the Council of Marketing and Opinion Research)
Past Director of the Market Research Council
Former U.S. National Representative of ESOMAR (European Society for Opinion and Marketing Research)
Current Board Member of the Partnership of Research Associations.
He was elected to the Market Research Council Hall of Fame in 2001, and in April, 2003, he received the prestigious ARF Industry Leadership Award.
He is a member of the Executive Committee and Board of Advisors of the MSMR (Masters in Market Research) program at the University of Texas in Arlington, Texas. Previously, he served on the Advisory Boards of the MSMR program at the A.C. Nielsen Center for Market Research at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, and the MBA program at Baruch College in New York.
Mr. Wilson has addressed various advertising and marketing groups and associations in the U.S. and abroad, including the Advertising Research Foundation (ARF), AMA, IAA and ESOMAR, and has authored numerous articles on marketing and media research.
Mr. Wilson is a graduate of Yale University and holds an M.A. degree-equivalent in Historical Studies from Corpus Christi College, Cambridge, England. He has done further graduate work in European Economic and Political Institutions at the University of Vienna, Austria.
