Steve founded Common Knowledge over 15 years ago, and helped guide its emergence as the research industries only expert provider of all the digital data collection, reporting and sampling methodologies, including Internet, IVR, mobile devices, scanning, and Fax-back. He began the Your2Cents Online Opinion Panel, now with over 2.5 million members, in 1995.
Their Internet and IVR programming and hosting services are utilized by leading full-service research firms and several of the largest multi-unit restaurant, retail and financial services firms.
Under Steve’s direction, Common Knowledge has been a pioneer in electronic data collection and the use of the Web for reporting and sampling. The development of their Inclusive Surveys product, combining Internet and IVR data collection seamlessly with one programming interface and data collection in one database, as well as the use of text-based surveys anywhere-anytime data collection for Internet connected mobile devices are among a continuing list of methodology innovations.
Prior to founding Common Knowledge, Steve served in account service and strategic planning positions with Tracy-Locke Advertising and The Bloom Agency as well as President of Dillard-Lavine Advertising and Marketing Services. It was at Dillard-Lavine that Steve began Metropoll Research, which separated from the Advertising agency and became Common Knowledge in 1988. Steve holds a Master’s degree from the University of Illinois, Urbana. He is a member of the American Marketing Association (AMA), Marketing Research Association (MRA), the Council of American Survey and Research Organizations (CASRO), and serves on the Advisory Board for the MSMR program at the University of Texas at Arlington.
