UT Arlington Diversity Week - It's a Maverick World!
View the Diversity Week 2013 Schedule.
Monday, March 4 – Friday, March 8, 2013
Founded in spring 2008, our annual Diversity Week was established by Multicultural
Affairs as a campus wide celebration of the multiple cultures that make up our
Maverick community. We were thrilled in 2010 to join forces with the
Office for Students with Disabilities to combine Disability Week and Diversity
Week into one annual program. Featured events
educate participants on issues regarding disability, race, sexual orientation,
gender and religious diversity.
MAVFest
MAVfest is the annual outdoor diversity festival featuring cultural booths, games, refreshments, music, and performances by student organizations. Stop by a booth to get a henna tattoo; play the “Bead Who You Are” game with the Leaders Educating About Diversity; or
enjoy a pick up game of dominos. Be sure
to stop by one of the most popular activities of the day: the Movin’ Mavs Wheelchair obstacle
course! Check out the main stage area
for fabulous performances such as traditional African dance, Salsa, fashion
show, tango, Filipino dance, and more!
Over 1500 students, faculty, and staff participated the first year and
this amazing festival continues to grow!
Past participants have included the Muslim Student Association, African Student
Organization, Latin American Student Organization, Mr. & Ms. UTA, Filipino
Student Association, Fine Arts Society of India, UTA Dance Ensemble, Women in
Leadership, LEAD, AMAS, Gay Straight Alliance, Safe Zone, UTA Volunteers, Black
Student Association, NAACP, Student Congress, Native American Student
Association, and the Latin American Student Organization.
