BE A MULTICULTURAL MAVERICK!

Looking for a unique way to get involved on campus? We are seeking energetic and creative students excited about designing activities that celebrate diversity at UT Arlington. The Multicultural Mavericks is a program designed to allow students to have a voice in shaping the heritage months on campus.

Specifically, the Multicultural Mavericks are a team of students who help create, plan, and implement:

  • Hispanic Heritage Month (Sept 15 – October 15)
  • Asian Heritage Month (November 2012)
  • Black History Month (February 2013)
  • Interested in Women’s History Month?  Please refer to Women in Leadership

New for 2012-13

  • The program has been revamped!  Interested students must apply to officially become the Multicultural Mavericks team!
  • Approximately 20-30 students will be chosen to be part of the official cohort.

An exciting opportunity awaits you!

  • All UT Arlington students are welcome. Each committee is made up of a diverse group of students, and we welcome all those excited about the opportunity!
  • Committee members work together to brainstorm and implement ideas for heritage month events including social, cultural, educational, and philanthropic activities.
  • Members must serve on one heritage month sub-committee of their choosing.  You may also elect to participate in additional sub-committees (e.g. Multicultural Maverick Joe is selected for the Hispanic Heritage Month sub-committee but also chooses to serve on the Black History Month sub-committee).
  • Planning meetings are held from September through February.
  • Members are required to attend at least 2 of 4 events held for the specific heritage month to which they’ve been assigned.
  • In addition, members should attend at least 1 event each for the other two months.
  • Receive invitations to special VIP member-only activities!
  • Optional: Represent the Multicultural Mavericks at campus traditions including Oozeball, Bed Races, and Homecoming.

Program Benefits

  • Meet new friends and have fun
  • Gain valuable leadership experience
  • Connect with campus resources and network with other student leaders, faculty and staff
