WIL Membership Requirements

This page is for the official Women in Leadership Class of 2012-13. The registration deadline has passed, and we are no longer accepting applications for participation.

MEMBERSHIP REQUIREMENTS

In order to maintain membership, participants must attend at least 70% of the approved events per semester. (This means 6 out of 8 events/activities). At least 50% of that attendance must be at the required events list (This means 4 out of 8 requirements),

• Deadline to complete fall requirements: November 30, 2012
• Deadline to complete spring requirements: April 1, 2013

EARN WIL HONORS

All members who successfully complete the fall & spring requirements will be honored at the annual Diversity Recognition Awards to be held on April 24, 2013.

Members who complete 100% of requirements for the entire school year will earn distinguished honors as “Member of the Year”.

Members who complete 100% of requirements for an individual semester will earn distinguished honors as “Outstanding Member”.

• Orientation Ceremony (Kickoff), Monday, September 17, 5:30-7:30p.m., UC Bluebonnet
• One Maversity workshop
  • Multiple workshops offered. View fall Maversity schedule.
• Verify WIL Involvement in Co-Curricular Transcript
• Attend one Diversity Lecture Series
  • Option 1: “What’s Your Gay Point Average?” featuring Shane Windmeyer, Tuesday, October 9, 7-8:30 p.m., MAC Lone Star, Co-Hosted with the LGBTQA Program
  • Option 2: “Creating an Inclusive, Socially Just Campus Community” featuring Dr. Kathy Obear, Wednesday, November 28, 7-8:30 p.m., UC Bluebonnet
• Two WIL Workshops
  • Leadership Workshop, Monday, October 15, 6-7p.m., UC Red River
  • Social Workshop, Monday, November 12, 5:30-7p.m., UC Bowling and Billiards
• One Women’s History Month (WHM) meeting
  • Option 1: Monday, October 15, 5-6p.m., UC Red River
  • Option 2: Monday, November 12, 5-5:30p.m.
• Attend a Women’s & Gender Studies / Approved Leadership Center event
  • Annual Oxfam Hunger Banquet hosted by the Leadership Center, Wed. March 20th, 6:30 – 8 p.m., UC Rio Grande

(Check back for additional options that may be added.)

* Attendance at one event will count towards your requirement. Any additional events in this category can count as an elective. (e.g. you attended the Certified Leaders Institute as your requirement and Lunafest as an elective)

• Option 2: Certified Leaders Institute, Saturday, October 6, 9a.m.-3p.m.
• Option 3: Women, Voting, and Presidential Politics, Wednesday, October 17, 12-1p.m., UH 108
• Option 4: Lunafest, Thursday, October 18, 7p.m., MAC Lonestar Auditorium
• Option 5: Disney Way of Leadership, Thursday, November 1, 12:30 p.m. - 2:00 p.m. in Nedderman Hall, Room 100
• Option 6: Lt. General Rick Lynch - Honor and Integrity, Thursday, November 1, 7:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m., Lone Star Auditorium at the MAC
