Electives

  • Participation in the following two programs would count as 2 Maversity electives

  • Multicultural Mavericks program –
    Participate in at least 3 committee meetings for at least one heritage month committee (the 3 must be for the same committee, i.e. earn a Multicultural Maverick t-shirt)

  • Women in Leadership program (for selected participants only)
    WIL counts as 2 elective

Each of the events below count as 1 Maversity elective

  • Black History Month – Barbershop Hour Live Broadcast, Mon, Feb. 6, MAC Lone Star, 6:30 p.m.

  • Black History Month – A Night of Soul, Featuring Performance by the Dallas Black Dance Theatre Co-Sponsored by African American Alumni Association, Tues., Feb. 14, UC Rosebud Theatre, 6 p.m.

  • Black History Month – - State of a Black College Student, Film Screening & Public Lecture with Director Dr. Darryl Scriven, Mon, Feb. 20, MAC Lone Star, 6:30 p.m.

  • Diversity Week – Maverick Speaker Series presents Soledad O'Brien "Diversity in America", Fri, Feb. 24, Texas Hall, 7 p.m.

  • Diversity Week – Safe Zone Ally Training, Tues., Feb. 28, Location TBA, 1 – 4 p.m.

  • Diversity Lecture Series – Featuring Jeff Chang, Historian & Hip Hop Journalist "Can't Stop Won't Stop: A History of the Hip-Hop Generation", Tues, Feb. 28, UC Rosebud Theatre, 7:00 p.m.

  • Diversity Week – 17th Annual Benefit Pow-Wow, Hosted by Native American Student Assoc. & Honors College, Sat., Mar. 3, UC Bluebonnet, 2 – 10 p.m.

  • Women's History Month – Women: Friends or Frenemies Forum Discussion, Co-Hosted by The Leadership Center and Relationship Violence & Sexual Assault Prevention Program
    Wed., Mar. 7, UC Bluebonnet South, Noon

  • Women's History Month – 5th Annual Women in Leadership Summit, Sat., Mar. 24, MAC, 8:30 a.m. – 4 p.m.

  • Women's History Month – Iron Jawed Angels, Film Screening & Voter Drive, Tues., Mar. 27, UC Concho, 6 p.m.

  • Any individual Native American Heritage Month event

  • If you have an event that you would like to have count as your elective that is not listed above, please consult with Multicultural Affairs Director. Event must be officially held by UTA organization/department and have a social justice or multicultural educational component at the core of the activity. Social activities or performances will not be accepted.
