34th Annual Fall Keyboard Contest & Honors Recital

for Piano & Organ

ELIGIBILITY

 

The UT Arlington Fall Keyboard Contest is open to piano soloists grades 1-12, piano concerto soloists grades 7-12, and organ soloists grades 9-12, residing in and attending school in the state of Texas.  Contestants compete in divisions according to current school grade and may compete in no more than two of the three categories: piano solo, piano concerto, and organ solo.

 

REPERTOIRE

 

PIANO SOLO: Any original work from the standard piano repertoire. Maximum time allowed is 10 minutes. Memorization is required. One copy of the music, with measures numbered, must be provided for the judge.

 

PIANO CONCERTO: Any original work from the standard piano concerto repertoire. Students must play one movement of a concerto. Memorization is required. One copy of the music, with measures numbered, must be provided for the judge. Contestants must provide their own accompanist.

 

ORGAN SOLO: Any original work from the standard organ repertoire. Maximum time allowed is 10 minutes. Memorization is not required. One copy of the music, with measures numbered, must be provided for the judge.

 

DIVISIONS (by school grades)

 

PIANO SOLO:

Division I: grades 1-2,                   Division II: grades 3-4,                  

Division III: grades 5-6,                 Division IV: grades 7-8,                  

Division V: grades 9-10,                 Division VI: grades 11-12.

 

PIANO CONCERTO:

Division VII: grades 7-9,                 Division VIII: grades 10-12.

 

ORGAN SOLO:

Division IX: grades 9-10,                 Division X: grades 11-12.

 

AWARDS

Each entrant will receive a Certificate of Merit and a critique from the judge. All entrants who receive a rating of “Recital” will perform in the Honors Recital at 6:00 p.m. in Irons Recital Hall. Following the Honors Recital, all recitalists will receive a trophy, and awards will be presented to the winner of each of the ten divisions.

 

ENTRANCE FEE & APPLICATION DEADLINE

Entrance Fee: $30 per application. Students who compete in 2 categories: $50.

TEACHER NOTIFICATION

Teachers will be notified of their students’ assigned audition times and rooms by October 28h, 2012.

The UT Arlington Department of Music address is: 700 Greek Row, Arlington, 76019.

From I-30: go South on Cooper, West on UTA Blvd., South on Nedderman Drive.  From I-20: go North on Cooper, West on Nedderman Drive. Parking is available at the corner of Greek Row and Nedderman Drive.
