David Wolf
Lecturer, Percussion,
Dr. David M. Wolf joins the UT Arlington Department of Music as a Lecturer while Dr. Michael Varner takes a Faculty Development Leave for the Fall 2009 semester. Wolf will be teaching applied percussion and directing the Percussion Ensemble and the African/Brazilian Ensemble. As an educator, Wolf has held teaching positions at The Ohio State University, the University of Oklahoma, and the University of Massachusetts Amherst. Additionally, through DMW Percussion, he has taught privately and in conjunction with multiple public school music programs in Massachusetts, Oklahoma, and Ohio. As a multi-dimensional performer, Wolf has enjoyed a variety of settings. In 2005, he placed second in the Percussive Arts Society International Convention Solo Competition (multi-percussion and tape) after being selected as one of four finalists from an international pool of applicants. At that same convention, he performed a showcase concert as a member of The Ohio State University Percussion Ensemble. In 2006, he performed at the Focus Day at the Percussive Arts Society International Convention in Austin, Texas. He has also performed in concerts and festivals in Ohio, Massachusetts, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Missouri, New York, and Connecticut. Wolf has had the pleasure of performing with international percussion artists Nebojsa Jovan Zivkovic, Linda Maxey, Susan Powell, Michael Burritt, Russell Hartenberger, John Beck, and Eduardo Leandro. Wolf received his Doctor of Musical Arts Degree from The Ohio State University as a University Fellow. He received his Master of Music Degree in Percussion Performance from the University of Oklahoma and his Bachelor of Music Degree in Percussion Performance and Music Education from the University of Massachusetts Amherst. His primary teachers were Susan Powell, Lance Drege, and Eduardo Leandro. |
