Carolyn Savko teaches class piano, piano pedagogy, secondary piano, elements of music, and music appreciation. She graduated from Oberlin College with a bachelor’s degree in piano performance and Indiana University with a master of piano performance. Before coming to UTA, she taught at Newberry College in Newberry, South Carolina. She is chairman of the Pedagogy Panel of the Piano Wellness workshops sponsored by Sheila Paige, a Dorothy Taubman teacher. The workshops are dedicated to preventing and helping injuries caused by incorrect usage of the body and muscles.

Savko is the liaison faculty between the Arlington Music Teacher’s Association and the UTA Music Department and coordinates festivals and rehearsals throughout the year for hundreds of piano students. She directs the high school piano ensemble that performs at the convention of Texas Music Teachers Association. She is also a member of the Fort Worth Forum that helps sponsor the Van Cliburn Competition and the Arlington Music Club that nurtures performing and sponsors scholarships for music students at UTA.
