Billy Robertson

Billy Robertson

Billy Robertson is the guitar instructor at The University of Texas at Arlington. He is dedicated to providing a multidimensional program that prepares students for the rigors of professional performance, teaching, recording and business conduct. Guitar majors at UTA learn to perform at a high level as well as create a business plan that will provide structure and a framework for working as a musician. A syllabus of studies in classical, jazz and other styles is used to develop a well rounded program for each student.

The guitar ensemble led by Mr. Robertson is key for developing performance skills and exposure to many styles of music for guitarists. The group explores arrangements for two to five guitars in a setting that requires precision playing.

Mr. Robertson is a product of the Arlington/DFW area. By the age of 19 he was a member of the Dallas and Fort Worth musicians union working in the pit orchestra at the State Fair Musical Hall, Six Flags Over Texas and Casa Manana. He gives credit and thanks for this to teachers such as Frank Kinman of Arlington, Frank Kimlico - UNT, James Eddy - UTA, Charles Postlewate - UTA, studio musicans Lee Robinson and George Barnes.
