Matthew Luttrell

Matthew Luttrell joins the faculty of the University of Texas Arlington as Associate Director of Bands August. 2007. Matthew is currently a candidate for the Doctor of Musical Arts degree at Arizona State University. At Arizona State, Matthew served as assistant conductor to Gary Hill and Wayne Bailey in the Chamber Winds, Wind Symphony and Wind Ensemble, as well as an instructor for the Sun Devil Marching Band, including arranging and writing drill for the ensemble.

Prior to Arizona State, Matthew served as Assistant Director of Bands at Illinois State University, where his duties included conducting the symphonic band, teaching instrumental conducting, marching band techniques, as well as directing the 250 member Big Red Marching Machine and Redbird Basketball Band. He also served as coordinator for the State of Illinois High School Marching Band Championship, Concert Band Festival, and the State of Illinois Middle/Junior High School Concert Band Festival.

Mr. Luttrell received the Bachelor of Music Education degree from the University of Colorado at Boulder and the Master of Music Education from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Mr. Luttrell serves as both a clinician and adjudicator across the Southwest, Midwest, and Pacific North, and his professional affiliations include CBDNA, IMEA, MENC, and is an honorary member of both the Tau Beta Sigma and Kappa Kappa Psi honorary bands fraternities.
