Dr. Powell teaches organ, harpsichord, music history and music literature. He is a specialist in Spanish keyboard music and has played numerous recitals in Europe, South America and the USA. In addition to numerous articles, he has published a book on Spanish music.
Dr. Powell was a Fulbright Scholar to Argentina and has been the recipient of a grant from the National Endowment for the Arts and the Award for Outstanding Creativity and Research at UTA. He has given organ concerts in such prestigious venues as Westminster Abbey, London; Notre Dame Cathedral, Paris; Washington National Cathedral, Washington, D. C.; and the Auditorio Nacional de Música, Madrid. In addition, he tours as a pianist with Dr. Martha Walvoord, violinist. They have given several concerts in Spain.
