Rogene Russell is Adjunct Professor of Oboe at the University of Texas at Arlington. A University of Tennessee and Yale University School of Music graduate, Ms. Russell is Principal Oboist of The Dallas Opera Orchestra where she just completed her twenty first season with the orchestra. Since 1977, Ms. Russell has been a member of the oboe section of the Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra. She has recorded with the Dallas Symphony Orchestra, The Dallas Opera Orchestra, Turtle Creek Chorale, Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra, Louisville Orchestra, Dallas Chamber Orchestra, Voices of Change, and Texas Boys Choir. Since 1975, Ms. Russell has performed oboe and English horn with the Peninsula Music Festival in Door County, Wisconsin every summer.
A founding member of Fine Arts Chamber Players (FACP), Rogene Russell currently serves as its Artistic Director and as a Teaching Artist with Dream Collectors. Committed to offering free professionally performed chamber music and music education opportunities in Dallas, FACP presents eleven classical chamber music concerts and over 400 educational outreach sessions each year including a youth recital series, weekly individual music lessons for public school scholarship students and an after-school violin program for inner-city elementary students. Chosen to receive the Texas Commission on the Arts “Exemplary Programming for Children” Award, the Dream Collector troupe of professional musicians and actors present curriculum based in-school programs that reinforce literacy, science and character education in North Texas public schools.
