Audition Procedures |
- Audition Music - The audition music consists of excerpts
from the music that the orchestras will be playing during
camp.
|
- Audition Process - You must play two excerpts of your choice.
The audition process is a very informal one. The judges will not have their backs turned and may ask you some questions such as how long you have been playing your instrument.
The audition panel may also ask you to play all or part of a specific excerpt just to help them determine which orchestra is best for you.
YOU MUST PLAY THE LAST TWO EXCERPTS TO BE CONSIDERED FOR PLACEMENT IN THE SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA.
|
- Audition Number - Everyone will be assigned an audition
number which will be noted in the registration packet that will be mailed to all registered students in June. (Example: VNA001 is Violin No. 1 for Audition Panel A, VNB001 is Violin No. 1 for Audition Panel B, VA001 is Viola No. 1, C001 is Cello No. 1 and B01 is Bass No. 1.)
The numbers will be assigned in the order that applications are received.
|
- Violin Auditions - Audition Panel A will audition students entering the 7th grade and below.
Audition Panel B will audition students entering the 8th grade and above.
If Panel A listens to a student who they feel is more advanced than usual, they may recommend that that student audition for Panel B.
|
- Audition Times:
Saturday Auditions - Violins, Violas and Cellos will be given the opportunity to audition on the Saturday before
camp begins by requesting a specific time between 1:00 and 4:00 p.m.
Sunday Auditions - Students will audition in the order of their assigned Audition Numbers beginning after the conclusion of the Camp Meeting.
|
- EACH SECTION IN EACH ORCHESTRA WILL RE-AUDITION FOR NEW CONCERT CHAIR PLACEMENT ON THE THURSDAY MORNING OF CAMP.
