The Texas Cello Academy, which began in 2000,
was conceived by Dr. Elizabeth Morrow and developed in
collaboration with colleague Nikola Ruzevic. When first offered,
the Academy averaged around 20 participants.
In 2005, the first TCA Junior was added, and since then the
Academy has continued to expand and now hosts up to 60 cellists
annually. Originally, participants received technical
instruction and the opportunity to play in Cello Orchestra.
Since that time, opportunities have expanded to include chamber
music, Texas All-State instruction, Alexander Technique, and
additional guest artists and activities. The Texas Cello
Academy draws cellists from across the United States. |
