Participation Options

General Seminar

• Private coaching/instruction with TCA instructors
  

Performance Seminar (limited to 13 students)

• Lessons with master teacher

• Solo performance in final concert

Performance Seminar participants must be prepared to perform two contrasting works from standard solo repertoire for master teachers.  Repertoire may include movements from sonatas, concertos, or unaccompanied works (Accompanied works must be played with piano.).  Students must supply original parts for staff accompanists.

Performance Seminar students will perform in a public recital.

All-State Seminar (limited to 15 students)

• Daily two-hour classes with master teacher

• Texas All-State Repertoire

Instructor will offer fingering suggestions and practice strategies in preparation for Texas All-State auditions.

* All Texas Cello Academy Participants must be age 13 or older by July 30, 2008 *

General Classes

All Enrolled Students will participate in:

Daily Technique Class
Scales, exercises, etudes; getting the most out of your daily practice.

Cello Ensemble
All participants will spend one hour daily in small cello ensembles.  Works will be performed in a concert on Thursday, August 7, at 7:30 p.m.

TCA Festival Cello Orchestra
Directed by Dr. Clifton Evans.  All participants will play in the cello orchestra.  The cello orchestra will perform on the final concert on Friday, August 8, at 7:30 p.m.

Special Activities

Alexander Technique
AmSAT Certified instructor Phyllis Richmond will present a session on restoration of poise and releasing muscular tension.
