The UTA A Cappella Choir has received many distinguished honors under the direction of Dr. Gary Ebensherger. They have performed for the state convention of the Texas Music Educators Association (TMEA), the Collegiate Choral Festival at Loyola University in New Orleans, the Texas Junior College All-State Choral Festival, and the Southwestern Division Convention of the American Choral Directors Association (ACDA) in Little Rock, Arkansas.Appearances with the Dallas Symphony Orchestra, the Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra, and the Schola Cantorum of Texas have included performances of Mahler's Second Symphony (Resurrection), Orff's Carmina Burana, Verdi's Requiem, Brahms' Requiem, Mendelssohn's Elijah, and Beethoven's Ninth Symphony.
The Choir has appeared with Dr. Peter Tiboris in Lincoln Center's Avery Fisher Hall with the American Symphony Orchestra in a 1986 performance of Verdi's Requiem. In the Spring of 1989 the A Cappella Choir returned to New York City for a performance of the Poulenc Gloria in Carnegie Hall with the Manhattan Philharmonic Orchestra, Dr. Ebensherger conducting.
