Harry Stephanou on CNN Newsroom
Harry Stephanou, director of UT Arlington's Automation & Robotics Research Institute, appeared as a live guest Thursday on the popular "Big I" segment of the CNN Newsroom. He discussed microbot research under way intended to help law enforcement and the military with surveillance, crowd control and intelligence gathering.
Sluggish economy
UT Arlington was mentioned in a KTVT/CBS 11 story about companies that are still hiring despite the sluggish economy. A Michigan woman, who moved to Texas last year with the hope of improving her job outlook, said she also needs a good education. She plans to earn a math degree from UT Arlington.
Teacher Intern Program a partner with Ben Milam Elementary
The Dallas Independent School District announced on its website, DallasISD.org, that UT Arlington's Teacher Intern Program is now one of its community partners for Ben Milam Elementary, a Texas Education Agency recognized school.
Maverick Stampede
In what it calls "Maverick Stampede: Welcome Week 2011," The University of Texas at Arlington will kick off the fall semester starting Monday, the Fort Worth-Star Telegram reported. New this fall are initiatives such as Success U, a two-day minicamp designed to prepare freshmen for academic success, and the Professional Nursing Pathways Program, which provides aspiring nursing students at community colleges a seamless path to earning a bachelor's degree.
