President Spaniolo on KERA

The August edition of KERA's CEO with Lee Cullum features UT Arlington President James D. Spaniolo and focuses on a University on the rise. Spaniolo discusses current challenges facing administrators in higher education, including reductions in state funding and political debate about faculty workloads. Spaniolo also shared details about the College Park District, the 22-acre, multi-use development currently under construction, and its role in revitalizing downtown Arlington. Online learning

The Dallas Business Journal reported that University of Texas System Chancellor Francisco Cigarroa and the UT System Board of Regents authorized up to $50 million to create the Institute for Transformational Learning last week. One of the goals is to establish UT institutions, including UT Dallas and UT Arlington, as world leaders in developing and implementing best-in-class resources for online learning

Embracing innovation

The website University Business featured a story about online innovative web-based approaches to higher education being piloted around the state and being embraced by students and some faculty and administrators. The article originally ran in The Texas Tribune. It cites UT Arlington as an innovator for its online programs in nursing and education.
