The black market in agricultural land is booming in Ukraine, wrote Leo Krasnozhon, a UT Arlington visiting assistant professor of economics, in a commentary in KyivPost. The sale of agricultural land has been illegal in Ukraine since the Moratorium Act of 1992.
Houston soldier, UT Arlington alum dies in Afghanistan
The Houston Chronicle and Click2Houston.com reported on the death Saturday of Lt. Col. David Cabrera, 41, in Afghanistan. He died less than a month after an attack by a suicide bomber in Kabul. Lt. Col. Cabrera did extensive work in the mental health field for the U.S. Army. The Houston native earned a graduate degree in social work from UT Arlington in 1994.
Lunafest comes to UT Arlington
KERA’s Art & Seek.org reported The University of Texas at Arlington’s Women’s and Gender Studies program will host Lunafest at 7 p.m. Friday, Nov. 11 at the Maverick Activities Center. Lunafest is a national touring film festival dedicated to raising awareness of women’s issues and highlighting women filmmakers.
Islamic Art and Culture Forum
The Dallas Morning News mentioned the Islamic Art and Culture Forum being held at 6 p.m. today at UT Arlington. Princeton University lecturer Michael Barry will speak about royal symbols.
