College Park Center to supplant Texas Hall
Basketball at The University of Texas at Arlington is leaving the big stage at Texas Hall after a lot of years and a lot of promises to play in a real basketball facility -- the 7,000-seat College Park Center, which opens officially Feb. 1, WFAA Channel 8 reported on its website and in a Sunday evening broadcast.
Recruiting, marketing, facilities all play part in enrollment boom
Aggressive recruiting and marketing, better retention of students, improving academics, better facilities and a stronger focus on campus life have all played a part in the UT Arlington enrollment boom, the Dallas Business Journal reported. UT Arlington enrollment has soared 34 percent in the past five years, pushing the total to more than 33,000 students. Statewide, enrollment in public universities is up 15 percent in five years.
Enrollment pushing development off campus
Dramatic enrollment growth at the University of Texas at Arlington is fueling development on campus and off, pushing the school past its onetime reputation as a commuter campus, the Dallas Business Journal reported. New restaurants, bars, shops and the College Park Center all are a part of that development.
