Concussion experts to meet
Former Dallas Cowboys star Daryl “Moose” Johnston will be the keynote speaker for The University of Texas at Arlington Concussion Summit in the Mavericks Activities Center on March 9-10, the Fort Worth Star-Telegram’s Cowboys corner blog reported. Some of the top concussion researchers from around the country, including UT Arlington’s Jacob Resch will attend. The summit is open to physicians, athletic trainers, physical therapists, emergency medical technicians, coaches, athletic directors, parents and athletes.
Discussion focuses on Africana Studies
As part of Black History Month, UT Arlington will host Dr. Charles E. Jones, professor of Africana Studies, from the University of Cincinnati’s Department of Africana Studies at 6 p.m., Thursday, March 1 in the E.H. Hereford University Center, Dallas South News reported. In conjunction with the establishment of UT Arlington’s new Center for African American Studies, he will present the lecture, “Here to Stay: Africana Studies in the 21st Century.”
Professor featured on billboard
A new billboard campaign for Moritz Dealerships features UT Arlington Professor Allan Saxe, the Fort Worth Star-Telegram reported. Saxe, who has given way more than $2 million to worthy causes, said he did the advertisement for free becasue he has known the Moritz family for years and has worked on some charities with its members.
