Dean featured in Star-Telegram story
Tough times two decades ago prompted northeast Tarrant cities to start talking about cooperative ventures to save tax dollars. While those ventures never seemed to get off the ground, many services are now being shared, the Fort Worth Star-Telegram reported. Barbara Becker, dean of UT Arlington's School of Urban and Public Affairs, was quoted in the article. She said such mergers become more common as communities grow and boundaries become less distinct. "If you have 30,000 people and you're not going to grow because you're landlocked, it becomes cost effective to go in with other cities," she said.
