WBAP/820 AM Morning News features UT Arlington hypersonic air travel researchers
Brian Estridge of the WBAP 820 AM Morning News aired an extended interview July 5, 2012, with Luca Massa, a UT Arlington assistant professor of mechanical and aerospace engineering, about his recent $640,000 NASA grant to improve methods of hypersonic propulsion for access to space. The research team is led by Lucca Maddalena, also an assistant professor of mechanical and aerospace engineering. Their work focuses on developing fuel injectors that can achieve Mach 5 without dependence on heavy on-board oxygen supplies, as current rocket propulsion systems require.
