Mavericks' conference moves explained

Jim Baker, athletic director of The University of Texas at Arlington, spoke extensively about the Mavericks' realignment to the Western Athletic Conference this year and the Sun Belt Conference next year on KXTA Channel 21's The Fan Sports Show with Gina Miller.

UT Arlington student wins award

Boeing Company and publisher Flightsglobal named Yayu Monica Hew and Jianying Tracy Ji as their 2012 Engineering Students of the Year, Press Newswire and several other websites reported. Hew is a UT Arlington senior in aerospace engineering and physics. She has been developing, building and testing ultra-low-power wireless strain sensors for use in monitoring the integrity and health of remote structures, including airplanes and other aircraft. Ji is a student at Washington State University.
