Zebra mussels in Lake Ray Roberts

Now that a reproducing population of zebra mussels has apparently found a home in Lake Ray Roberts, state and federal officials, local water utilities and power plant operators are preparing for the worst, The Dallas Morning News reported. Robert McMahon, a UT Arlington biologist who specializes in freshwater and marine invertebrates, was quoted extensively in the article.

Future energy

State Impact conducted an interview with Scott Tinker, director of the bureau of economic geology at UT Austin, about a new film and education project called "Switch" that features Tinker. The project asks the question of where future energy will come from. It mentions UT Arlington since the campus has active natural gas wells.

UTA alumna gets head coaching job

Lisa Jackson has been named the head coach of the University of Alabama-Birmingham women's tennis program, ABC 33 and several other websites reported. Jackson was the Southland Conference Player of the Year at UT Arlington in both 1999 and 2000. She earned her bachelor's and master's degree in psychology from UT Arlington.
