UT System names UT Arlington presidential search committee
The University of Texas System named a presidential search advisory committee on Tuesday to identify potential successors for UT Arlington President James Spaniolo, who announced retirement plans earlier this summer, the Fort Worth Star-Telegram reported. Pedro Reyes, UT System executive vice chancellor for academic affairs, will be chairman of the committee. It will have 16 other members, including UT Arlington faculty, the student body president and several people who represent the Arlington community. KXAN Channel 21 in Austin and KYTX Channel 19 in Tyler ran similar stories on their websites.
Political science chair discusses campaigns on KERA
Rebecca Deen, associate professor and chair of the UT Arlington political science department, was one of three panelists featured on KERA's Think program Tuesday. Listen to the podcast here. The panel discussed political campaigns leading up to the party conventions and November election. UT Arlington alumnus William McKenzie, a Dallas Morning News columnist, and UNT associate professor Matthew Esbaugh-Soha also were on the panel.
