School of Social Work receives Simmons gift

The Simmons Family Foundation is giving a $1 million grant to the University of Texas at Arlington’s School of Social Work, a Robert Miller column in The Dallas Morning News reported. The grant will help fund the school's Innovative Community Academic Partnership, a program that applies academic research intervention ideas to Dallas County community agencies. The partnership helps social service agencies develop better evidence-informed practices. It combines the evaluative skills of professors with the front-line knowledge of practitioners to identify gaps in social service delivery, then institute new practices.
