UT Arlington Math Emporium
In its story about competency-based learning, Community College Week.com noted that The University of Texas at Arlington moved much of its algebra instruction into a large computer “emporium” that allows students to move at their own pace. Austin Community College plans to open a similar facility in 2014.
School of Architecture alumna gets new role
The Fort Worth Business Press reported that Alesha Niedziela, a UT Arlington alumna, has been named the new executive director of the American Institute of Architects, Fort Worth Chapter. Niedziela earned a master’s degree in architecture from The University of Texas at Arlington in 2004. She subsequently worked at WKMC Architects Inc. in Dallas.
LUNAFEST national film tour stops at UT Arlington
The Dallas Observer mentioned the national touring film festival for women, LUNAFEST, will screen at 7 p.m. Thursday at the UT Arlington Maverick Activities Center. Ticket proceeds will benefit the UT Arlington Women’s & Gender Studies Program and the Breast Cancer Fund.
