Physicist develops high-tech, brain-mapping tool

A new tool being developed by UT Arlington assistant professor of physics could help scientists map and track the interactions between neurons inside different areas of the brain, MediLexicon reported. Samarendra Mohanty, a UT Arlington assistant physics professor, recently published a paper on the development of a fiber-optic, two-photon, optogenetic stimulator and its use on human cells in a laboratory.

 

Architecture professor studying new ways to manage North Texas growth

Michael Buckley is out to save the world from suburban sprawl, the Fort Worth Business Press reported. A pioneering professor of real estate development, Buckley is a clinical professor in the UT Arlington’s School of Architecture and director of the school’s Center for Metropolitan Density, a new think-tank on urban issues.  Buckley commented on North Texas development in the article. He’s studying new ways for urban growth in North Texas.
