Casper quoted in U.S. News & World Report story about childless employees

U.S. News & World Report quoted Wendy Casper, UT Arlington associate professor of management, in a story about childless employees who often face unequal treatment in the office when it comes to work-life preferences. “The most important thing is for the employee to sit down and talk to the boss about where they’re coming from,” Casper said. “If it’s become clear to you that it’s almost a case of discrimination … that’s not the place where you want to keep working.” The story also appeared on Yahoo! Finance.

Najafi quoted on ExxonMobil pipeline rupture

The Arkansas Times and FuelFix.com quoted Mohammad Najafi, UT Arlington civil engineering professor and pipeline construction expert, in a story about a ruptured ExxonMobil pipeline that caused an oil spill in Arkansas earlier this year. “With proper inspection and maintenance, these catastrophic events can be prevented,” Najafi said. The story initially appeared in Inside Climate News.org.

Students organize rally

KXAS/NBC 5 mentioned a rally planned at UT Arlington today in protest over George Zimmerman’s acquittal. Rallies nationwide are calling for federal civil rights charges to be filed against him for the shooting death of Trayvon Martin.
