Planetarium at UT Arlington will help scouts earn badges

The Planetarium at UT Arlington is offering a number of Saturday programs in January and February focused on scouting astronomy-related badges. Individuals or troops should contact Marc Rouleau at (817) 272-0822 to reserve space for any of the programs. A minimum of 20 people is required for each session, and the sessions will be capped at 50. Prices will be $15 per scout and $10 per adult. The cost will cover supplies and a number of activities and shows, plus a snack. Participants will also get a special planetarium button.

From 9 a.m. until noon Jan. 12, the session will focus on the Cub Scouts Astronomy Pin and Belt Loop. A Junior Girl Scouts “Sky Search” program will follow from 1 p.m. until 4 p.m. From 9 a.m. until noon Jan. 19, a “Brownies Space Explorer Try-It” is scheduled and from 1 p.m. until 4 p.m. “Boy Scouts Astronomy.” February programs begin on Feb. 9 and follow the same schedule for two weeks, beginning with the Boy Scout Astronomy Pin and Belt Loop at 9 a.m.
