ARLINGTON - The Claudia Quintet will perform at 7:30 p.m. Monday, April 7, in Irons Recital Hall, 701 Greek Row Drive at The University of Texas at Arlington. The performance is free and open to the public. The ensemble recently returned from a European tour and will end its United States tour in New York City April 12. Since composer John Hollenbeck first presented the band at an Internet cafe in
Manhattan in 1997, the Claudia Quintet has played to audiences from Alabama to the Amazon. Music critic John Fordham, writing in the United Kingdom’s “The Guardian,” said "The Claudia Quintet, led (if such a conversational ensemble can be said to be led) by New York drum virtuoso John Hollenbeck, was one of the hit newcomers of the 2007 Cheltenham Jazz Festival.”
