ARLINGTON - Arlington Mayor Robert Cluck will join The University of Texas at Arlington’s Maverick Stampede as it gets underway Thursday, Aug. 21, with the ninth annual Residence Hall Move-in.
More than 25,000 students attend UT Arlington. Of those, some 4,500 students live on campus, which is the largest percentage of students living on campus in the University of Texas System.
All day, the streets around the UT Arlington campus will be bustling and jammed with hundreds of university volunteers welcoming new and returning residence hall students and providing them with assistance moving their belongings into their new residences.
From 11 a.m. to noon, UT Arlington President James D. Spaniolo will be joined by Mayor Cluck, as well as other faculty and staff volunteers, who will assist by carrying students’ belongings up to their new rooms, driving the “mules” (golf-cart-like utility vehicles) and handing out water to residents and their parents.
President Spaniolo’s tour schedule is as follows:
11 a.m. – Leave Davis Hall, 701 S. Nedderman Drive
11:10 to 11:25 a.m. – KC (Kalpana Chawla) Hall, 901 S. Oak St.
