ARLINGTON - More than 750 students are set to battle at noon Friday, Sept. 25, in the thick and sticky mud during the 20th anniversary of one of the most popular University of Texas at Arlington traditions. The date has been moved back one week because of weather concerns.
The Oozeball Volleyball Tournament had been scheduled for Friday, Sept. 18. Storms are in the forecast, so the event has been delayed.
Oozeball raised money for four $1,000 scholarships last year. The UT Arlington Student Alumni Association expects up to 130 teams of six to enter this year's muddy battle. The tournament is staged on five Oozeball courts between Greek Row and Fourth Street on Summit Avenue.
The early registration deadline has been extended through 5 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 23. Entry fees are $70 per team of six players, including at least two women, and are payable by cash, check, VISA or MasterCard to the Student Alumni Association. The price includes six T-shirts for the team.
Entry forms must be returned to the Alumni Association at 841 W. Mitchell Street or faxed to 817-272-2597. Late entries will be taken until Friday, Sept. 25.
Proceeds benefit the Student Alumni Association Sophomore Scholarship Fund.
