Theatre Arts presents 'Noises Off'

ARLINGTON - The University of Texas at Arlington Department of Theatre Arts opens its 2009-10 season with "Noises Off" by Michael Frayn.
The farce features a zany troupe of British actors stumbling from riotous rehearsals to a wild and crazy opening night and is touted as pure fun in three fast-paced acts. The play won the 1982 Laurence Olivier Award for Best New Comedy and is directed by Professor Andrew Gaupp. It is stage managed by Theatre Arts major Jacqueline Pettit.
The cast features the following UT Arlington student performers: Shelley Ohmes as Dotty Otley; Ryan Cole as Lloyd Dallas; Stephen T. Howell as Garry LeJeune; Leslie Jones as Brooke Ashton; Kathryn Ivey as Poppy Norton-Taylor; Robert Bell as Frederick Fellowes; Ericka Hernandez as Belinda Blair,; Wesley Farnsworth as Tim Allgood; and Porter Gandy as Selsden Mowbray. The understudy ensemble includes Bethany Ham, Abel Ramos, Brooke Thibodeaux, Britney Hudgins, Kadrea Wade, Trae Adair and Travis Cook.
The play showcases the design talents of several Department of Theatre Arts specialists: Michelle Harvey as set designer, Jared Land as lighting and sound designer and Marla Grant as costume designer. Associate Professor Joe Kongevick, serves as make-up designer and Assistant Professor David Navalinsky is technical director and production manager.
"Noises Off" will be performed at 8 p.m. Oct. 16, 17,22,23 and 24 in the Mainstage Theatre, Room 174, at the Fine Arts Building, 502 S. Cooper St. and at 2:30 p.m. Oct. 25. Reservations are recommended.
